Thinking about Valentine...

Hi everybody! Did you have a nice Christmas? I hope you had a wonderful time with your family. Now, as the Holiday season is almost over, I'm already thinking about Valentine. Do you like to craft for Valentine's Day?

Today I want to show you a gift tag that I made using the brand new Jumbo Tattered Florals Bigz XL Die from Tim Holtz. I love this new die! You can make a lot of flowers with only one die and in a very big size.

Supply list:

I have used some coffee filters to make this flower. I love all the dimension that you get layering and scrunching them. it is so easy to do and the results are very realistic. Then, you only have to apply some Distress Stains to color the filters.

You can find this die and all the other ones from this awesome range since January 2014 in stores.

Happy Monday and Happy new year!!
.................................

Oh Christmas tree!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, relaxed and with lots of love (because love is the most important thing at Christmas, isn't it?)

Way back in July I made a Christmas quilt that has now been published in an Italian magazine called Cucito Creativo. Want to see what I made?

I used squares and half square triangles for the tree, and kept things in a traditional red and green colour scheme - with red as the background (because white is never a good colour for my family, and I'm sure ours isn't the only slightly messy household. Christmas involves lots of eating and chocolates and things - a white background wouldn't have held up well here!)

...I appliqued stars onto the points of the tree and quilted really simply, just following the lines of the squares.

As with most of the projects I make for Sizzix, this now lives with head office so it can be used as a sample at shows and so on. I rather miss it, so maybe next year I'll make another one for me.

A Happy Canvas Layout by Gerry van Gent

Hello Sizzix Friends and Happy Sunday!
I hope you all had a beautiful and cosy Christmas
and you all spent precious moments with your loved ones.

I am here today to share with you a canvas layout which has nothing
to do with Christmas or Winter :-)
It`s simply a happy, colourful canvas .... where I am featuring
 a few gorgeous Sizzix dies.
Hubby
657900 Sizzix Big Shot Machine
658948 Sizzix Thinlits Die Frame, Fancy Rectangle
658951 Sizzix Thinlits Die Ornate Hanging Sign
658946 Sizzix Thinlits Dies Decorative Border and Heart
658240 Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die Brick Wall
*   *   *

The Fancy Rectangle Frame was die cut twice using
pattern paper and white cardstock. I used the white
cardstock die-cut frame as a shadow.
WP c2

As for the Brick Wall strip die - it was used all over
the canvas in small pieces.

*   *   *
Once I die cut the Decorative Border I cut it exactly in two parts.
For the canvas I used only half of the border, adhered it on
top left part of the canvas and decorated with lace.
WP c1

The Ornate Hanging Sign was die cut from white cardstock.
For my project I used only the ornate part of the sign.
I added a final touch to it i.e. a small resin flower.
WP c3

OTHER PRODUCTS I USED:
Webster's Pages - pattern papers, lace, stamps, resin and alphas

This is my last blog post for 2013 and I hope you enjoyed it!

WISHING YOU ALL
A HEALTHY, HAPPY & CREATIVE 2014!

See you ...next year :-)!

Fridge Magnets

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Some of us (looking at you mr super talented Pete Hughes - happy belated birthday!) also celebrate our birthdays on Christmas Day, so it is even more special. I have spent these days with the family and I must admit they have been rather eventful in a good way, except for a tooth issue. A tale for another day!

Anyway, today I am sharing one project I have done as a Christmas present for my nephew Laith, who is 18 months old. I wanted him to have number magnets on his fridge Nd instead of buying them I made them myself using the Numbers Bigz die from the serif essentials collection.

I first die cut them three times using mount board (the stuff to frame pictures, but any really thick card will do too). Then I used strong magnetic sheet.

I glue all three die cuts of the same number together and peel off the back and attached to the mount board numbers.

Then I proceed to paint them using good acrylic paints like Paperarsty Fresco.

Once dry I clean the excess acrylic paint on the magnetic back, coat them with a clear non toxic child friendly varnish, and voila, they were done!

PS Laith loves them!

Back to journaling - praising the leftovers!

Hi, did you have a good, peaceful Christmas time?
I had - celebrating Christmas at home, in new place - this time in more quiet way than it was years before. But you know? I liked it too - I had a moment to work on one or two special projects, to think about my plans for the coming days, to try something new...
Before Christmas I was making project like crazy - I had to be on time with so many cards, layouts and journals that it was a great pleasure for me to do something just for myself as a break and a bit of "mind stretching"! I was lucky to have great inspiration - my friend's Round Robin - and here is the result of my "free time creating".

I have a special "leftover basket" in my studio now - I put there all the bits and pieces of Sizzix cut-outs I didn't use in my projects - and when I need some elements, some quick inspiration - I can always get some from there! Can you see how in quick and easy way I could build, interesting, layered background using some flower and doily elements from my small collection?

Here is the list of dies I used for this project - but it would work with any similar ones :)
- 658947 - Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 2PK - Doily & Doily Border
659127 - Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK - Frame Layers & Flower #2
- 658506 - Sizzix Sizzlits Die - Vintage Doily
- 658502 - Sizzix Sizzlits Die - Flower, Daisy
- 658720 - Sizzix Bigz Die - Ornate Frame

I really think this basket was a great idea - it is a shame to throw away pieces you don't need in  that moment...they can be perfect for your future projects, right?
Sending you lots of love
Finn

Flag_of_Italy Per le amiche italiane! :)

Ciao!

Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (Powder Blue & Teal) (657900)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Doily, Classical Lace (658922)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Stacked Stars (658771)
cartoncino: bianco, giallo chiaro, turchese
carta glitter
cartone pressato
striscia di stoffa avorio
colore acrilico oro
colore acrilico verde acqua perlato
glitters
paillette
macchina da cucire
filo
colla

Ghirlanda per Capodanno, materiali usati:
Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (Powder Blue & Teal) (657900)
Sizzix Accessory - Cutting Pad, Extended, 1 Pair (655267)
Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Vintage Market (658772)
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK - Lace, Layering Decorator (658914)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Stacked Stars (658771)
cartoncino: avorio, giallo chiaro, turchese
cartone pressato
colore acrilico oro
macchina da cucire
filo
colla

Porta-lumini Casette, materiali usati:
Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (Powder Blue & Teal) (657900)
Sizzix Accessory - Cutting Pad, Extended, 1 Pair (655267)
Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Vintage Market (658772)
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 8PK – House (658785)
cartoncino: avorio, giallo chiaro, turchese
cartone pressato
colore acrilico oro
colla

Segnaposti posata, materiali usati:
Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (Powder Blue & Teal) (657900)
Sizzix Bigz Die w/Bonus Textured Impressions - Silverware Tags (659187)
cartoncino: avorio, giallo chiaro
carte fantasia
colla

Ci vediamo nell'anno nuovo!

Mini album

Hello!

I hope you’re fine and that you spent a nice Christmas time!
As promised, here are some pages of my mini-book with the foliage die that I like so much!

Supply list:

Mini album: Sodalicious
Alphabets: Glitz Design
Ribbon: American Crafts
Metallic corners: Ephéméria
Stamps: Tim Holtz, Florilèges Design
Ink: Versafine Smokey Gray
Spray ink: Mister Huey's black
Others: Sequins, Gold acrylic paint, school eyelets, Masking Tape

Die:

658508 Sizzix Sizzlits Die Set 3PK-Roses flower set

As seen last week, I used the foliage die on the cover as an embellishment.

It is used as a common thread in my album. The leaves are cut out of white Bristol paper (not pattern papers) so that they can be shaded or printed onto depending on the pages.
Furthermore, white brings contrast to my lay-outs.

This is a pattern that matches with lots of themes like outdoorsy strolls, holidays or a series of photo portraits like in my album.

Have a lovely day,

See you next week,

Karine

Bonjour !

Mini album : Sodalicious
Alphabets : Glitz Design
Ruban : American Crafts
Coins métal : Ephéméria
Tampons : Tim Holtz, Florilèges Design
Encre : Versafine Smokey Gray
Encre en spray : Mister Huey's black
Divers : Sequins, acrylique or, oeillets scolaires, Masking Tape

Die utilisé :

658508 Sizzix Sizzlits Die Set 3PK-Roses flower set

Karine

Boxing Day reward!

I hope you've all had a very happy Christmas.
I'm enjoying a quiet breather today - before we all get together again, tomorrow, for more family fun -
so all the washing up is done - the wrapping paper re-cycled and peace and quiet has descended!
What better time to pick up my hexagons and stitch a few more motifs -

I've hardly done any since my holiday - but thinking about it these are very well travelled hexagons - they've been to Helsinki in Finland, Barcelona in Spain,
and to Siem Reap in Cambodia - even visiting the site of the Tomb Raider film, the stilt villages and Anchor What.

I wonder where else they will travel before the quilt is finished - I guess it depends on how big the quilt grows!
I also wonder what other projects will be started ( and hopefully finished) in 2014 - I know for sure that I'm looking forward to lots of fun - and I hope to meet more of you at the shows during the year.

Have a Happy New Year - and don't make too many resolutions - just one or two that you can achieve - mine is just to sort out and move my sewing room to a bigger bedroom - ( I'm not sure that 'just' is the right word though) which I hope to achieve by the end of February- then I can be more organised and have more time sewing - rather than playing hunt the fabric!!
Keep sewing.
Angela
